My DD8 had just started riding lessons and is pony obsessed. I would love to take her to a horse show maybe in London but have no clue what might be good for her to go to. Any advice? TIA

London has the London international horse show, which you’ve just missed! This is arguably the best for children as there is a lot of entertainment alongside the showjumping

The global champions tour usually has London dates.
Most county shows will have horses.

There will be regular shows at smaller venues but these will be quite dry for a young child.

Olympia show is on now I think? Just looked and it's 15th to 19th.

Google olympia 2022 horse show @Susue999 tomorrow would be great as the sheltland grand national is on. Its all very Christmassy too!

Olympia usually sells out by mid autumn, I’d be surprised if there were any weekend tickets

As others have said you have just missed tickets for London Horse Show. That closes indoor showjumping until the New Year. Not sure what else London hosts, usually there are loads of lower key more local shows every weekend in more rural areas.
Whereabouts are you as you may be close to one of the big arenas in the UK which would potentially have something on every weekend?

XelaM · 16/12/2022 21:16

There are still tickets available for this weekend I believe. I started a thread about it and two posters have offered their tickets

London International Horse Show is fantastic and on this weekend and Monday.

XelaM · 16/12/2022 21:20

If you want to watch show jumping for free and are in London, Brook Farm and Barleylands are not far and have show jumping shows on every week pretty much. You can check online what's on

XelaM · 16/12/2022 21:22

I just checked and London International Horse Show is not yet sold out londonhorseshow.seetickets.com/tour/the-london-international-horse-show

Thank you all. London international Horse show looks amazing I’m not sure we can fit it in during the next few days sadly. I had no idea this even existed but will have to remember it for next year.

We are in Essex so Barleylands and Brook Farm are actually not that far.

Thanks again this is great.

Of you go to Barleylands or Brook Farm, they have British Showjumping shows on as well as unaffiliated show jumping shows. The quality of the jumping and the height will be better at the affiliated (British Showjumping) shows.

DingDangMintyBells · 18/12/2022 10:28

Some of the London show is on bbc, they normally do highlights. The puissance would be the best bit to watch as it is such a simple format but so impressive.
Local shows are great but might be a bit dry if she is young.

Honeyroar · 18/12/2022 12:29

It might be worth looking for county shows you n summer. They will usually have show jumping and showing horse classes, plus lots of other animals and display.

countrygirl99 · 18/12/2022 12:30

What disciplines she interested in? Often you can go to affiliated events free/ cheap. If you look on the websites for BS, BD or BE you can find local events. And ghere are big events like Windsor, Badminton and Burghley in the summer.
