Jodhpur Help

Hi All
I would like to buy some new jodphurs but I appear to be looking for the holy grail.
Requirements are under £40 (perhaps a bit of wiggle room but not much)
Lightweight fabric suitable for riding in hot weather, I am on the equator its usually at least 20 degrees and I get really hot while riding. The jodphurs I have are way to thick.
A reasonably high waist as I have a very long torso and they often seem to sit very low rise on me which is not at all flattering.
Ideally with a proper button and zip waist and belt loops as I think this looks better but I am willing to compromise on this one.
Also ideally with a full seat but again willing to compromise on that one
I am a size 10/12 and 5ft 9 so need a brand that caters for long legs.
If anyone can point me in the direction of a brand or pair that might fit my requirements i'd be very grateful. I am currently riding in running leggings and they just aren't quite up to the job.
I am getting back into riding as an adult so don't need a pair that can stand up to very hard wear just good enough for one or two weekly lesson at the moment

Riding tights instead of jods?

Pleasedontdothat · 09/12/2022 09:47

For hot weather riding I’d have thought you’d be better off looking at riding tights rather than ‘proper’ jodhpurs as they’ll be much more comfortable. Most don’t have belt loops but the Dublin Cool-it ones do and they’re currently on sale as it’s freezing here! You’re not going to get zip etc unless you go down the breeches/old-style jodhpurs route but they tend to be made in much thicker fabrics so I suspect some compromise will be needed 😉

Is there a Decathlon anywhere near you? Their mens (and womens) jodhpurs are excellent and great value.

You are telling me what I didn't want to hear, perhaps I need to accept riding tights, are they thicker than regular running leggings? I will unfortunatley need to order online from a UK supplier and have them couriered out as I am a good few thousand miles from the nearest tack shop.

Shires Aubrion are quite good as I have long legs too and they do actually come long enough.

Ariat Eos riding tights. Doesn’t fit all your requirements but they are very cool and comfy

Yes! Kerrits. They are ridiculously comfy and they do ice fill ones for hot weather. Their flow rise performance tights are also very lightweight

I think they also shop internationally from their main website. Honestly I bought one pair and have never worn any others since. They do full seat too, worth having a look on their website for the best descriptions and sizing (I'm not a bot, I just genuinely adore them)

Pelo2022 · 09/12/2022 14:57

Oh and I'm 5ft 10 and they're plenty long enough

Allthegoodnamestakken · 10/12/2022 17:07

Thanks all, I'll take a look at the suggestions

I like Flexars. They're really long in the leg & high waisted.
