Has anyone had lessons on schoolmasters at Talland?

I have a dressage and jumping lesson next week and I’m so excited!

Yes my daughter had a few advanced dressage lessons there. It was very useful to feel movements like flying changes done ‘properly’ before trying to teach them to her own horse.

Please report back!! Thinking of asking for some schoolmaster lessons there for Xmas.

I know a several people who’s loved their lessons, I also know someone who used to work their who has somewhat tempered my enthusiasm for wanting to ever use them…

@dogrilla go! It was absolutely brilliant.

You have an assessment first to check that you can ride properly on one of the riding school horses, then I had a jump lesson and a schoolmaster dressage lesson. Both were fantastic, I had the whole arena to myself, and for me, tuition was great - some people might not like it though!

The schoolmaster lesson was great, you can also explain what you want to work on, and riding such a powerful and well trained animal was fantastic.

Thanks for coming back to update. Always fancied a lesson at Talland!

That sounds greatOP, did you do it all in a day, and did you pay for the assessment lesson on top of the 2 schoolmaster lessons? DH had said about a spa weekend for my 30th in Feb but I'd rather go to talland 🤣

OldEvilOwl · 18/01/2023 12:42

I did my stage 3 riding exam there, all of the horses were nice on the flat and to jump

Handsfullofholes · 19/01/2023 22:38

@LG93 sorry I didn’t see your post so never updated! Yes you have to pay for the assessment lesson, but it is full 40 minute lesson as the others are.

I’ve been back up since my first post, and it was just as good - I’d definitely recommend over a spa weekend!

I’ve done it all in a day twice - first time I did the three lessons, and second time I did two lessons. I would recommend a weekday as they tend to be quieter. I am fairly fit, but did get quite tired, so depending on how “riding fit” you are it might be better to do a weekend trip.
