We poo pick every day, without fail.

the last few weeks Iv been and her poo is like this? Why? It’s sooo hard to pick up!

and on that note can anyone recommend a fab wheelbarrow that’s huge? Because I’m having to do two trips and it’s killing my back! And a rake please lol

Do you feed linseed or anything with linseed in? The birds love it & it will be them going through it that makes it go like that

Yes it will be something you are feeding. One of ours is on oats and the birds go mad for it - absolute pain to poo pick

CountryCob · 12/10/2022 22:02

Also could be daddy long leg grubs in poop attracting birds and dung beetles. If you feed a cereal based mix birds do go through it for that. No ideas to fix but am in same boat and feel your pain! Can you make your equipment like barrow and pocket easier on your back?

You can get decent 2 wheeled wheelbarrows, but they can be more difficult cornering, or you can get self propelled ones, if you have a couple of grand to spare (never used one, but look tidy).. Failing that, a small tractor with a box....

One of mine is on linseed and his poos are like soft porridge after about 12 hours! And they are full of tiny little beetle things. The non-linseed pony poo remains poo-like.

OldSpeclkledHen · 15/10/2022 22:02

It's the beetles and other insects (and subsequently birds after these) that are attracted by horse crap
I agree it's annoying- but we are freaking nuts anyway 😂

Do you have any ducks or geese near by , the ducks at the stables I worked at would go to all the fresh poo and root about in it apparently the heat in the poo brings worms and others bugs to the surface.
The ducks would squabble over a good pile of poo !
