DHorse has been being slowly brought back into work after 18 months being a horse in a field following a nightmare year of injury and illness. At one point, he was not happy and we were starting to contemplate PTS if he continued to deteriorate, but he must have understood my anguished conversation with the vet because just then he turned the corner.
A few weeks ago we moved him to the yard dd’s working at which has miles of glorious off-road hacking. He’s been doing walk hacks and a bit of pole work and has now started trot sessions. The vet and physio are really happy with him and he’s completely sound, using his body evenly, stepping through and generally looking great. He needs to build up more fitness (and lose a bit more weight 😳) but we’re so happy to have him back being his cheerful self!
I hope this gives hope to anyone going through a long recovery /rehab - it’s amazing what time and living out can do 😊
