Can I check what others think . Moving horse to new yard nearer home . Gave notice 24/4.Paid until end of this month and pay in advance monthly .At start of livery agreement gave 2 weeks payment / ‘notice payment’ /deposit. 2 weeks notice will be 8/5 when I have transport booked to leave so do I say my 2 weeks deposit covers this ? Or have to pay for a whole month even though only staying for 8 days ( then get 2 weeks deposit back ) .
If you’ve stuck with me thank you and if you’ve got any advice even better!

Do you have a contract?
In the absence of a contract you usually give notice equivalent to the payment terms, so if you pay monthly you give a months notice.

As the horse world is so small it’s usually best to keep on side, so if it were me I’d be paying the month. I moved recently and paid a month notice and only stayed for a week as the new stable was ready and I wanted to get on with it.

Prior to that I moved in conjunction with a house move relocation, yard owner knew I was going but we didn’t know when. Once we exchanged and had a completion date she offered that I didn’t have to give more notice than that, as she had a wait list and wouldn’t lose out. So in that example I only had to give 2 weeks but she’d known for 4 months I would be moving away.

Thanks.
I have to give 2 weeks notice ( and paid this 2 weeks ‘ deposit’at the start) incase that helps explain.
Agree want to do the right thing and leave on as good terms as possible though.
