Welly recommendations

My beloved 14 year old hunters (from when they were well made) are about to bite the dust so I am in need of good welly recommendations.

I like the older style hunters style as I have small feet and ankles. I need them for the field and yard and muddy dog walks so need to be properly waterproof and not ones that slip off easily!

Let me know what wellies you love Smile

I need to follow this as I have worn my muck boots down to the ground.

I've heard good things about Le Chameau but await others responses

Modern hunters are shite
Le chameau IMO are worth the money.

If you don't need to ride in them I'd get neoprene boots with a vibram sole like Grubs or Hoggs. Not very expensive (£50 ish) and really good grip under foot which is useful in slippery but sticky mud (especially with a dog who pulls) but obviously not good for riding with stirrups.

Dunlop are amazing. Really sturdy and have lots of different styles eg insulated etc. I live in the Scottish west coast and most people here wear them

I was looking at le chameau, they do look great but soooooo expensive! But might have to bite the bullet if they're that good. They didn't have a lot in a 3 that I could find though, might have to look again.

I don't need to ride in them but I'm not keen on neoprene ones, I have no idea why! I really do need ones that are shaped rather than straight down though as my feet just slip out otherwise Grin

Thanks all, will have a look 👀

I bought muck boots based off a recommendation on here
The neoprene lining is good but they pull my socks off as I am walking
I don't ride though

I love my Le chameau ones. I have the neoprene ones. Well worth the money. In the winter they keep your feet so toasty!

Catscatsandmorecats · 05/01/2022 15:59

I've just managed to get the neoprene lined le chameau ones in kids as they didn't have the adult ones in stock in a small size. 🤞🏻they are tall enough as they are so much cheaper Grin

I love my muck boots because otherwise my feet are freezing. But they last 2 years before they fall apart, so not remotely durable.

guinnessandblackcurrant · 07/01/2022 22:49

I've had hunters, muck boots and loads of leather yard boots like Ariats etc in the past and all have been rubbish. Last year I treated myself to Aigle wellies and absolutely love them.

Le chameau are amazing compared to hunters, they are neat around the ankle and foot too. Not flappy like some wellies. I got the neoprene ones and warm feet in wellies is a novelty worth paying for
