Play saddle

Very random my daughter wants a saddle for pretend play on the sofa arm. Desperately wants a pony but the sofa arm will have to do for now! Anyone have any idea if I can get a cheap saddle for this purpose! Many thanks.

Ebay, ex display or damaged not suitable for horse use. Had a look just now and found a couple around £20 or £30 mark.
Alternatively depending on her age you can get a newish pony pad at about £40 or so or a treeless pony pad for £50 ish

Thank you I will have a look. Good idea.

Rocking horse? You can probably pick up a secondhand one for a similar price to a saddle. Saves your sofa arm too.

Maybe put a wanted post on local horsey Facebook group. Someone might have a 40yr old saddle knocking around at the back of their tackroom they'd be happy to rehome.
You could try local riding schools too, they tend to keep extras & at some point they must get too old/worn for use.

Rocking horse is a fab idea.

Old saddles tend to smell a bit leathery and horsey. Fine if you like the smell in the living room but not so fine if you don’t! A new pony pad or a synthetic saddle may be better.

Second hand cub saddle or a bareback pad that you can attach stirrups to. They are pretty cheap and can be found on eBay. You can also pick up little pony western saddles which would have been my childhood stuff of dreams

Thanks so much these were great ideas and I have sourced one. Very grateful for all your advice.

If you really want to make it even more realistic, you might be able to pick up an ijoy horse riding exercise thing for about £50. Mimics the movement of riding a bit, takes a saddle with stirrups and is really good for your core strength.
