Full seat or not?

I’m looking for some new riding leggings and have the choice between a full seat or not. One option is these pepperellequestrian.co.uk/products/full-seat-navy?pr_prod_strat=copurchase&pr_rec_pid=5807536996519&pr_ref_pid=6693083545767&pr_seq=uniform

I’ve never ridden with silicone full seat leggings, but DD doesn’t like them. She says they kind of grip to the saddle and make the leggings slip down, especially when trotting.

What do other people think about them?

Ive ordered these in ink blue blackheartequestrian.com/collections/leggings?page=2 They don’t have silicone grips at all and are quite shiny. I’m wondering if they’ll make me slip around in the saddle.

Any other suggestions for riding leggings gratefully received Smile

I have a full seat on all my riding leggings. They have saved me quite a few times when my horse has spooked and spun.

I have those Pepperell ones. They ARE quite sticky - I also have Dublin and Shires ones and with those I don't notice the silicone, I just don't slide around. I don't find it too annoying though, and otherwise I think they're pretty good for the price.

Thanks polkadotties. Sounds like they’re useful. I’ve just returned some non-silicone leggings to Blackheart equestrian as they seemed really slippy/very shiny. I could imagine them being quite annoying in the saddle.

Cross-posted squirrel26. What do you think of the quality of Pepperell? They’re quite a bit cheaper than other brands.

I think given that they are a bit cheaper, it's OK - they have very thin fleecy-type material on the inside so they're reasonably thick and definitely not see-through. Mine have stood up pretty well to being washed and haven't shrunk. I'd say they aren't as good quality as my Dublin ones, but then the Dublin ones are more expensive.

I’ve got Dublin cool its that I wear in the summer and the warm its for the winter.

I have the Pepperell ones, they are great for the price. I've never felt like they were slipping down, and they have only felt a bit too sticky when I started dismounting with my leg over the front and sliding down the saddle (I'm pregnant and getting off in the usual way hurts my bump!).

Sorry, another question about the Pepperell—how big is the phone pocket? My current leggings have a flap that closes over to stop the phone coming out. Bit worried the Pepperell ones will not keep the phone in if it’s not deep enough.

I have a Pixel 4 and it fits with a bit of room to spare, my friend has them too and has a bigger Samsung phone that fits fine.

Thanks 👍. Think I may go for the pepperell ones.

DD is after some Aztec Diamond leggings, which all the kids seem to wear. I’ve seen they’ve got a new collection out soon and the price of them have gone from £40 to £50.

Aztec Diamond legging are see through

Squirrel26 · 18/07/2021 07:47

Yeah I had some Aztec Diamond ones and I wasn’t that impressed - but to be fair a lot of the kids have them and they look fine on them. I think I’m just too old!

I resisted the full seat leggings for ages after having some sticky bum jodhs ages ago, which literally stuck me to the saddle Grin
But after getting some silicone knee tights I branched out, and have several brands.
My favourites are my Kerrits followed by Brodelle which are often on offer.
I had Pepperelle but found them too see through on my thunder thighs.
For non silicone tights Flexars are fab, but do come up long on me, 5'3 with 26" inside leg.

PS meant to say that I don't stick to the saddle, even with the gel pad I use.
