Showing my 2 year old gelding

I'm showing my two year old this weekend and I'm badly in need of some advice! I've owned horses for thirty years but I've never shown in-hand before. It's a youngsters class. So -

What will they expect of him?
Normal plaiting?
Show headcollar?
Compete under his registered name rather than stable one?

My partner will be doing the actual showing because I have a neurological issue which means I fall over a lot 😞 What does he need to wear?? He's reasonably new to the horsey world.

I'd be ever so grateful for any pointers!

What type is he? That will depend on how you do his mane

Yea to show headcollar and registered name

Re partner usually handlers wear chinos, those zip up ariats, a shirt and a flat cap but I know some shows insist on a hard hat for I hand so maybe check their rules

He's a purebred Forester.

I've read elsewhere that he should be wearing a bridle with a soft bit? He's not worn a bridle before though.

www.newforestpony.com/about-the-new-forest-pony-breed/new-forest-pony-showing-rules/ this should give a bit of an idea of acceptable turnout for a forester

Also if you look at the Facebook group "new forest pony show results" you'll see pictures of winning turnouts, including in hand, which should give you a good idea of what they're looking for

If it's an M&M class you don't plait. Have fun!
