Hey just looking for some advice. I bought recently an ifor williams 511 trailer from a girl in our yard. She told me it needed a new floor but would probably cost between £300-£600. As I am a bit inexperienced & I know her pretty well I took her word for it & paid her £1000 for it. I then got a recommended mechanic who is well known on our yard for specialist on trailers/vans & being thorough to quote me for the new floor & he inspected it & he said it also needed new tyres & brakes as had been lying unused for so long. Total repairs would be £1500 ish. I thought about it for a while & looked into getting my trailer license which was another £600 plus a big waiting list . I’m not that confident to tow & it would mainly be me driving for my DD’s pony at weekends rather than my husband who has the right license & has towed for us before. The mechanic offered to just buy the trailer from us for £500 if we were interested as he could do the work himself for cheaper & he would sell it on for around £2500 or rent out. We decided to cut our losses & kindly our in-laws offered to lend us some money for a wee 3.5t van that I can drive myself & we’ll pay them back each month so no interest or finance. Our mechanic went to check the van for us & was so thourough again the seller has done quite a few repairs for us & and even ended up getting him to do some work for him. So tomorrow we are picking up the van but the mechanic has still not paid us the money for the trailer, . I spoke to him about it last Tuesday and he said he’d prefer cash so I said ok I’ll pop over on Thursday. Thursday came & he said he’d do a back transfer on Friday so I sent all my details. It never appeared so I called him this morning & he said he’ll do it today but still never appeared. I am not sure what to do next. It’s sitting at his yard as it was there for the inspection . I think if it still doesn’t come through tomorrow I’ll say look would you want to just cancel the sale & we’ll go and pick it up. It’s a bit awkward as he’s a nice guy & been good for me going down promptly to inspect the van for me (which he’s charged me for off price of the trailer). I feel like I’m giving it cheap to him though as I could probably sell it privately myself as a project for £700-800 and could do with the money for the van expenses like insurance & tax. He’d be doing the van service & Mot next year ideally as well so I don’t want to fall out with him but it’s just annoying me that he’s not sent it when he said he would x
