Anyone tow with a campervan?!

Thinking of swapping my towing vehicle for a campervan that I can use for day to day use also - anyone tow with one and what is it/how so you find it compared to a 4x4? I've got a 15.2 cob that I travel in an Ifor 510 (only ever him on his own as has to travel with partition out!).

Do you mean small converted van type or a full on motorhome? Apart from weight issues, motorhomes are fairly crap and wobbly to drive and I certainly wouldn't want to tow with one. A smaller van type would better subject to towing capacity - it's something I've though about.

It would need to be a fairly meaty one, either diesel or 2L + petrol. I see some camper van conversions that could probably do the job, but you will need to research this carefully. Technical info on braked/unbraked towing capacity needs to be ascertained.

More of a van type - large Ford etc... Have actually decided to stick with a caravan but thanks for the replies.

Someone who tows with a van comes to one of our competitions - not sure what the van is but something like a Nissan Elgrand. Seems fine but can't cope over fields.

I tow with a Renault Traffoc that we had converted to a camper can. It’s not as rock steady as towing with. Ford Ranger etc (that I see to tow with) but it does the job. I only ever tow with 1 horse though due to weight etc. It sure how great it would be in a muddy field!
