I have just bought a chestnut horse after only ever having bays and greys.
What colour tack looks best?

Brown tack no matter what colour horse, I've always thought black looks a bit naff.

Lime green is cool. But only if you went your horse to look rad

I prefer brown tack too, especially on a chestnut.

My daughter rides a school horse who is in pink for everything, most of it glittery too. She does look rather wonderful!

I'd stick to brown myself:)

Brown. My chestnut is in brown. Black tack is for carriage horses.

Black tack on my black horse. Looks fab.

If you want to show you need brown.
If your happy hacking or endurance riding there's some amazing webbing tack out there, my haflinger has a blue and green bridle that changes into a headcollar...

I've always had brown tack for my 14.1, but then we have done lots of showing with him. The mare I bought a few months ago now has black tack though, as the second hand saddle that we got her was black. TBH I really don't care as long as her tack fits her correctly and is decent quality. I don't think that anyone really notices either which way, so I would say get what's right and most comfortable for your horse.
