Remove oil stain from leather?

Nothing to do with saddlery, but I thought you horse lovers might be able to help me. I've got a beautiful tan leather handbag with a stain about 2x1 inches on the back of it. I had a packet of chewing gum in the wee inside back pocket, it's obviously been there for ages and the peppermint /spearmint oil has seeped out, through the packet and onto the leather. The bag is fully lined so the stain would need to be tackled from the outside. I'd be really grateful for any advice you could give. 👜

Only thing I can think of is rubbing talcum powder in to absorb as much oil as possible.
