BHS gold/NFU insurance question

I haven’t had a horse in years so don’t feel clued up in insurance in the slightest. We’ve just bought a new pony.

Both my dd and I have BHS gold membership.

New pony is insured for vet fees and I added public liability on an NFU policy. Adding public liability added a massive £120! And I’m wondering now if i actually need it on the NFU policy?

I don’t want to overinsure and pay more for the same thing? But I do want to make sure The pony is covered. Pony is kept at a friends house. Friend will be helping with pony. I want to make sure that I’m covered if he does any damage there. Kicks out at her car etc. And also if he escapes am I covered? I suppose j just feel a bit confused as with the NFU policy it is the specific pony that js covered whereas BHS is me and dd and we aren’t always the ones handling/riding....

Any help would be much appreciated

I would contact the BHS legal team and ask - or see if it's covered in the FAQs question. They're generally very helpful.

I'm pretty sure BHS gold provides your public liability insurance. You can see what it covers on their website if memory serves.
