OMG I got the heeby jeebies just reading that, I am so sorry, no accusations of over dramatics here! Winter grazing is so precious and I can only imagine how you are feeling after carefully preserving it all summer too... whhhy would he do that? I guess it's now his job to go and give hay every single cold/rainy/snowy/dark day between now and spring (so, every day) right? Has he cut it very short, any chance of recovery before spring?

You also have my sympathy. This is an issue only horse people will understand :) I would be raging too.

What on earth would possess him to do this and why in the autumn? He can't even salvage what he has cut for winter feed!

Was it topped or properly mowed? If its the latter then he'll have a heck of a lot of raking up to do :S

Intending to lay a new patio anytime soon? :-)

I'd have to count to an awful lot more than 10.
