Re-proofing old jackets

I’ve got a few jackets which are no longer completely waterproof. Is it worth trying something like nikwax ? Any experiences?

It probably won’t get them as waterproof as when they were new but it’s better than nothing - would you otherwise be chucking them and buying new?

Nil wax is good, I use it on DS's showerproof jack wolfskin jackets and it waterproofs them

Nikwax

i've just re done a driazabone jacket and hat with the specific stuff they sell. Messy ++ but it looks very waterproof now! - and not cheap at £30 a tin for the stuff, but much cheaper than anew jacket !

Renapur for waxed cotton as well as leather.

Not done it myself, but I had my minging yard coat washed and reproofed by the lady who does the horses’ rugs

Cost me about £7.

Might be worth asking if you have a local rug person
