Insurance during trial period - how does it work?

Just that really. Confused how insurance works during a trial period.

Would I as the buyer need to get insurance (in which case who would insure me just for duration of trial and let me cancel if it didn't work out?). & what about the fact that most policies dont kick in for first 14 days anyway!

But if seller can add me onto their policy until trial ends, how would it actually work in the event that pony needed treatment when it was with me, but the funds were with seller?

So confused!!

Have a chat with the insurer - NFU are very helpful like that. Or start the policy 2 weeks before you collect?

Thinking about it, most cover straight away for accident, but not illness, but if you have a vet check first, they should do both.
