Advice on hock arthritis please

My 7 year old has just been diagnosed with djd in his hocks. He’s had the gel injections 5 weeks ago, vet is due out next week for a check up. I’ve very slowly been increasing his work sticking to the plan the vet gave us.

Anyway, things are going well, we’ve built up our trot work and he’s so much happier than he was (used to nap badly).

Once the vet has been and we get the all clear that the injections have worked (fingers crossed) I want to try him on a supplement. Glucosamine is the obvious one, but I want to ask if anyone has any specific ones that have worked for them please?

I’ve also been looking at the magnetic bands that go around his legs (either above or below his fetlock) and wondered whether anyone has any experience of them? He lives out 24/7.

I’d also love to hear some success stories. We were into our dressage, which has been put on hold for now, but I’d like to know if anyone has gone on to have successful dressage careers after diagnosis.

Thank you Smile

Suggest you post on the FB British Dressage page. You’ll get plenty of responses and much more traffic than on here.

Thank you. I’m on that page but don’t like to post publicly, a lot of people I know are on there and I just don’t like them knowing my business (silly I know).

I’ll have a search on the page though and see if anyone has been through anything similar.
