Winter feeding

Any ideas for feeding a scrawny 2 year old over winter? He'll get ad-lib hay but the grazing won't be great.

I'd love to hear recommendations 😊

I’m wary of feeding too much to them at that age Blush
I’d give hayledge over hay if he was getting poor before throwing loads of hard feed at him

Maybe Alfa-a oil, with fibre beet and if all else failed adding micronised linseed.
Like to keep it as low starch/sugar as possible especially at this age

Speedi-beet, (lower sugar content than fibre-beet and still a great conditioner) micronised linseed (no more than a mug-full) and a balancer for youngstock. You could include a basic chaff such as Thunderbrooks but I’d lay off the alfalfa as it sends some doollally. Keep it forage based though and you shouldn’t go far wrong. Wink
