Hello everyone,

I’ve been lurking on this thread for a while and ye all seem so helpful I just wanted to ask any questions f there’s anyone from NI here!

I’ve recently started horse riding lessons at a stables after only riding a bit as a child. I’m really eager to progress but I’m getting a bit frustrated as my riding school doesn’t really allow learners to do much in the way of horse care/ground work and I don’t want to be one of those people who learns how to ride but not how to adequately care for a horse.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend some good riding schools?
I’m in Belfast with good access to the motorway/a12 willing to travel up to 40 mins for the right school.

Also this sounds daft, but I’m nowhere near sharing a horse or anything and in any event I’m too skint, but does anyone here know of anywhere or anyone who might allow me to just hang out with the horses, learn to tack them, feed them, groom, hoof pick etc? I don’t expect anyone to let me ride them as I know beginners can screw up your horse and I’m probably not able for anything other than a riding school plod and I still very much need lessons, simply looking someone who will let me hang out with their horse once or twice a week?

Try Gransha Equestrian Centre in Bangor. I had some dealings with them over something else and they were so lovely. Seemed to be a family business random by a mum and her two daughters.
