I’ve been approached by someone wanting to share one of my ponies. I’ve no idea what the going rate is. Does anyone have any ideas as to what’s reasonable? I’m still a bit at the ‘is it worth the hassle stage!!’ 😬

It depends where you are but around here (southeast) it varies from £10-£15 per day depending on facilities etc. That usually means the sharer does stable duties/poo picking on their days. I think paying helps formalise the arrangement and possibly makes it more likely that your sharer will turn up reliably

Oh thank you for that Please! I was thinking of a lot less so I know I’m not being unreasonable! I’m SE too with pretty good facilities but value my privacy too & not sure if it’s worth the hassle!! 😬

I've done 2 days for £15, with some poo picking. Less if there was no decent school to use, etc. I'd think £20 for 2 days would be ok if there were no jobs (e.g. full livery). If you are not sure, perhaps trial one day a week for £10 and see how it goes? Say you'll review in a month?

I used to pay £12 a day.

I pay £110pm for a horse that's been to medium level, hacks well and no jobs except grooming/tacking up etc
Unlimited days and nobody else rides her yes I'm very lucky and I've loaned her for 8 years

Thanks all -thinking £15 a week should be ok then. 2 maybe more sessions a week. Pony at grass so not a lot of work involved.

Yeah and was going to build in a trial period.

I pay £15 a day, near Brighton, and we do 2 days a week.

I pay £15 for my daughter per day. She only does 1 day a week as doing GCSEs but she gives the owner a complete day off. Turns out, mucks out, grooms, rides in school or hack and then brings in, feeds etc at end of day. I’m in SE

I pay 20 per day but we are London fringes, she is on full livery and there is lovely hacking and good facilities at the yard. Also I only share one day. The pony is a 20 year old (very safe) happy hacker.

My sharer pays £60/ month for 2 days a week, she gets to dictate which days as she works shifts. Grass livery so no stable duties and just tack cleaning afterwards to do. I'm in Wales so not a very well off area but lots of horses and people wanting a sharer so you can't charge too much. She helps me out by exercising him so it's a win win situation.
