Second hand riding helmets

I know it's not recommended to buy second hand, but with a growing child and limited budget, what's the alternative? What do you do with too small helmets if the advice is not to sell them? I don't know anyone personally with the right size for DD so would you say my only option is to buy new?

I've found two Harry Hall helmets the right size on a pre-loved selling site. Obviously they're both claiming little wear and no falls but they would say that wouldn't they?

At the moment there's nothing I can get my hands on that fits DD properly (other than an adjustable one but I don't trust it and she finds it uncomfortable)

What would your advice be?

Decathlon stock the champion junior jockey skull which is PAS015 and under £50.

Hope Valley have good up to standard hats from several manufacturers at a similar price.

Your riding school will probably insist upon a hat having PAS015, SNELL or ATSM standard. Do not buy one without as you will waste your money.

We have bought a PAS mark adjustable helmet which is working really well. It was expensive but I didn't feel happy for them to ride in anything less.
