My son is 8 and has been riding for just a few months. He loves it and wants to continue so I’m ready to fork out for the equipment (insert new found appreciation for my parents for allowing me to ride for so many years! £££ Confused)

He already has a helmet but has been riding and mucking out in wellies while I sussed our whether he was going to stick it out.

Now he clearly needs boots and probably some breeches but he’s turned his nose up at all the jodhpurs and jodhpur boots I’ve shown him for being too girly Hmm

Any suggestions for a pair of manly boots that can double up for yard work and riding would be much appreciated. He isn’t interested in shows, so they don’t need to be smart.

Also, but less importantly, jodhpurs for boys? ... do your boys just wear ordinary ones?

TIA x

Boys generally wear breeches which are a bit baggier than jods. I've attached a link to show you but somewhere like robinsons prob do a cheaper version.
Short black faux leather boots are the norm for kids both ages and plenty plain ones which aren't girly.

Equetech do a full range of boys wear www.equetech.com/equestrian-clothing/junior/boys/

My son has been riding since he was about 6.
It's really hard to find boys jod's/breeches , but as another poster has mentioned equitech do boys gear.
If he has only just started riding, he won't be ready for long boots - so jodhpurs boots are a must, but with half chaps, which may make them a little more palatable.....
Tredstep do some really great ones (what my son wore until he moved into long boots recently) - but they maybe a little more than you want to spend.

My son (12) has been riding since he was old enough to sit up, he wears jodphurs and boots from Decathlon.

Decathlon! Boots and jods. DS happy to wear them.
