First HT tomorrow

Stupidly entered a ht after a couple of glasses of wine and now it’s tomorrow. It’s my first ever and I’m petrified. My pony is more than capable (daughters FEI event pony before she went on to horses) and in theory I am also capable of the jumps but how do I remember where to go?? I have no sense of direction, I get lost walking the dog in the wood by our house. I don’t want to make a fool of myself but although am petrified I am sooooo excited. Any tips please?

Walk the course. Take a pic of each fence so you can flick back through them and memorise where you are going. Visualise each jump, your approach to it and getting away from it afterwards. If they are looking a bit big when you walk right up to them, don’t get as close. They always look that bit smaller if you stop where the horse is likely to take off. The butterflies will be brewing but once you are off I bet you enjoy it! Good luck and let us know how you go.

Oh and so long as you aren’t first to go there should be some hoof prints to follow. Honestly. You won’t get lost. The fences won’t be that far apart! Good luck!
