lighting a barn without a genny

We are building an American barn at a property we recently moved into and I was looking for ideas on how to get power to it. We have been quoted an insane amount by the power company to get a spur off the main line and running a cable from the house is not an option as it already has two circuit boards and the electrician is concerned we will overload them. A generator is an obvious solution but they are noisy and smelly. Has anyone used solar or wind power?

You can get silent generators, and the latest models of generator shouldn't be smelly - might be worth a bit of research before you do down another route?

I have these and they're great!

Rechargeable floodlights. I have a couple, durable, multipurpose ( can put in field or by a school to ride in dark) mine were only about £20-25 each and i have only had them a couple of years

Thank you! I didn't think of rechargeable lights and we really need to keep costs down as the house renovations have gone a little over budget.
