You were all so helpfull when I posted here before, I wondered if I could ask some more beginner questions!
My 6yo daughter's been invited to take part in a show day at her riding school in a couple of weeks, but I haven't the faintest idea what it entails.... I know I could ask the school owner, but I'd like to have a general idea so I don't look like a complete idiot! She said it's mostly a fun thank you for the volunteers, and that they do have rosettes and cups. What sort of things might they do, do you think? Will it be like games and stuff? Do you get a rosette for joining in, like school, or is it only proper winners? Any suggestions or discussion welcome!

See if you can get a schedule from the organisers - even fun shows have them. Once you know the classes they are running you can ask us for more info ! All competitors in fun classes should expect to win rosettes...

Tigers I've just come on to ask this question so will lurk here.

I know DD is in a lead rein class and needs either jodhpurs / jacket combo or jodhpurs and polo shirt. That's it, the lady at her riding stables wasn't very helpful about it all Confused

So far I know they have a brushing competition, an obstacle course, and a getting off and on race, according to my 6yo!

Stubble - in a LR class (even at a fun show) the rider would normally wear a tweed jacket with shirt and tie, cream/pale yellow/beige jods, short jodhpur boots (ideally brown but black OK for fun show) and a helmet with velvet cover. The leader would normally wear a jacket, smart trousers or skirt, shoes they can run in and ideally a hat. They should carry a show cane (a small whip would be OK) and the pony should be lead with a leather leading rein attached to the noseband.

I would ask the school owner, or check their Facebook page for pictures of similar events.

I've worked at places where it's fancy dress, somewhere you go in PC tie and jumper or just your normal riding clothes.

They're a bit like primary school sports day, lots of fun, no body worries who wins and parents usually get a good laugh!
