Dublin River Boots

Hi folks,
I've just purchased my first pair of Dublin River Boots & I'm not sure if I should put some waterproof spray on them before I wear them, or will they be fine as they are?
CrispPacket · 27/01/2017 17:18
I got some toggi canyons and waxed them..just in case :D
Fireinthegrate · 27/01/2017 19:02
Can't do any harm. I bought my daughter some a few years ago and at the same time bought myself Dubarrys.
Have to say that they were used every day and the Dublins had had it after 18mths, but the Dubarrys are still going strong 4 yrs later. It was definitely worth the extra expense.

They key is to clean them after each wear and to wax them as often as you can. DW bought a pair of Dubarrys from Burghley more than 10 years ago. DD is now wearing the same pair and they are still going strong !

I've never treated my Dublin boots , the older pair are now about 4/5 yrs old and used throughout the Autumn/winter daily and have only just sprung a leak which I've made my DH fix as they're so comfortable . I got new ones from my dsis for Christmas and I'm just going to look at them until my others completely die .

Wore them for the first time yesterday.
I may never wear another pair of boots or shoes EVER!
I'm going to take a chance & just leave them to it!

I've been wearing mine every day for over a year now and they are amazing. Never treated them, really ought to!
MysticTwat · 29/01/2017 19:35
Mine are still going strong, after over a years wear, i've not treated them but was thinking the other day I should.

I really miss my dubarry's , but can't bear the thought of parting with that amount of money to have them only last a year. I had a pair did everything right, didn't wear them in muddy fields (have aigle neoprene boots for that), but the gortex membrane in one sprung a leak......rendering them useless. Dubarry couldn't have been more dis-interested. Reading people have had their's for 10 years tempts me, but I just wonder if they are just not made as well......
Pigeonpost · 29/01/2017 20:56
What should they be treated with? I've never even cleaned mine. Rain washes mud off etc etc
Floralnomad · 29/01/2017 21:27
I like the 'lived in' look , it was only when I got the new pair that I realised what colour they are supposed to be .
