cub saddle?

Anyone tried one? It's for youngest DS - thought it might help him feel more secure in the saddle. We're using a leather one at the minute but it's a bit slippy! :)

They are more of a pad than a real saddle. How old is DS? They are handy for a wee wander on a pony but not for learing to ride ITMS.

Ok - he's 6. Thought it would hold him more in place. Any other recommendations for an 11.2 pony?

Don't agree my girls both learnt to ride in a bates cub saddle. They have lovey deep seats which give them a good seat and the adjustable velcro panels made them easy to fit any pony we had. Served us very well and they are cheap

Thanks fatbottom. That's what I'd heard about them - I guess people have different experiences! I liked how deep they seemed to be. Thought it would help to hold him in place.

My two did fine with the cub, they had no problem riding 'properly' on it. Ds especially was very confident and once(aged about 5) leaned forward on to dshetland's neck and went to sleep as I led her along the road! We never saw the point of replacing the saddle as dshetland was on loan and she and ds were perfectly happy in it so we used it until he outgrew her (they weren't competing or jumping or anything like that).

So cute Pixel! I'd love to fall asleep on a pony :) My friend has one that she can lend me so we can see how we get on. Thanks!

I have used one and its perfectly fine for my ds 7 - i can also somehow get my backside in it to take the fat pony for a walk down the lane Wink.

Best thing to do is try it and see how you get on!
