I have just arranged to go and look at a couple of horses tomorrow ??
I am ridiculously excited (and a bit nervous as its been over 10 years now since I had my own horse)
Been digging out all my old horsey stuff, and making lists of all the new things I will need!
Any recommendations for insurance? I have looked at stoneways and they seem quite reasonable. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Hi. Insurance wise I insured by 7 year old stunning TB with Stoneways for vets bills up to £3k and death. Unfortunately I have had to claim for both. He got atypical myopathy and died in October. Still gutted now. The own good thing was how human Stoneways were. They paid the vet bill within a couple of days (low excess of £85) and I received the money for his death within 2 weeks. So very positive. I have also heard good things about Equicover. Good luck horse hunting - hope you have more success than me!!!

So sorry to hear about your horse incapinka, that must have been awful to go through.
Glad to hear the insurance company treated you well. I will have a look at equicover as well, thanks.

Thank you. It was utterly horrendous but a big relief to be treated well by insurers...

How did you get on today?!

I've been with stoneways for over 30 years ! Would recommend wholeheartedly . They were the fastest to pay out when the yard got burgled and we lost everything , and have always paid every vet bill totally without a quibble . Love them . When I lost my first pony I ended up sobbing on the end of the phone and they sent me a handwritten card with her final vet claim . I now have the dogs with them too and they're just as good too.

Thanks plomino.
Well I totally fell in love with a 14.1 ride and drive cob, and am going back today to put a deposit down! So subject to vetting, I should have a horse again very soon Grin

I use KBIS and have claimed twice; once for a very bad puncture wound where horse was at vets for nearly 2 weeks and another lower claim for a severe skin condition. They were excellent both times and premium didn't increase much at all the next year (a couple of quid a month more). Happy horse hunting!

How exciting!! Good luck with the vetting. I have so far had 2 fail the vet (goodbye £500!!) and have now developed trust issues!!! Glad to hear that so far things are being more straightforward for you and do keep us posted!

Things are going amazingly well at the moment, and I keep waiting for something to go wrong!
Horse is being vetted either tomorrow or Friday, so my fingers and toes will be crossed until then.
