won't the stables be insured?

Don't know but mine ride in the school holidays and Ive never even thought about having insurance for them. Should I have?

What would the insurance be for? My horse is insured, but I don't have personalinsurance as his rider. As Atticus says, if your daughter is riding at a riding stables, I'd fully expect them to have insurance hat would cover their horses and premises.

WRT to riding schools, I don't think you are always covered for public liability if you are riding off their land. I have BHS Gold membership which covers me, which is fairly cheep and their are other benefits. However, I partly have this as sometimes I ride other's horses, or get free rides at a riding school I help out at, so need my own rider insurance anyway. Rider insurance normally cover rider injury and public liability, but public liability may also be covered by horse insurance I think?

I think the issue may be that OP's daughter isn't covered by riding stable insurance because she is so young, or obviously may be not riding at a riding school.

As she is so young, I think it will be very difficult to find rider insurance. Most riding schools struggle with insurance for under 5s or under 8s. Presumably she won't be doing anything where injury is likely to be an issue, so if you can avoid areas where public liability would be an issue, then can you manage without?

Sorry I can't be more helpful- maybe contact the BHS and see if they have any suggestions?

Hi
Thanks for your replies. It was through a ad on preloved that I was going to part loan a Shetland for my little girl but the people who own the Shetland wanted me to have our own insurance etc, but have really struggled with finding anything so we have come to a verbally agreement.

We've got the ponies insured with KBIS and that covers 3rd party (which is what most people want if on livery) and personal accident but only from age 5 (DD is 11 so not a worry). DD started when she was 2 1/2 but we just trusted the NHS would look after her if she'd had an accident when she was a tot.
