So we are heading off next week our first ever Hickstead... Anyone want to share any top tips? We have the boots jods jacket etc sorted, interested in any other experiences. Thank you.

It is a jolly long walk from the horsebox area to the rings so give yourself plenty of time! Weather is looking good though and the experience is just great so enjoy being in this wonderful setting surrounded by so many jumping heroes and have a great time!

Take plenty of cash, there are plenty of spending opportunities Grin

How did it go, Lurking?

PestoSurfissimos · 30/06/2014 16:28

Yes, how did it go? Me & DD2 were there on Saturday (not competing!)

The car is now nicely mudded-up again Grin

We wished we'd booked tickets for Sunday now - loved watching the Speed Derby and Derby on Sky though. Excellent coverage.

DD is riding there at the RIHS in August so that really whetted our appetites - especially when they did the pictures from overhead showing the whole showground. It will be first time for DD riding there although we've been loads of times and my cob is still in the catalogue for winning the heavyweights.

Was anyone there early on the Saturday and heard the thunder? We thought it was a nuclear explosion- shook the lorries in the park! Then it rained........................................ still love Hickstead!

PestoSurfissimos · 01/07/2014 09:21

Missed the thunder, drove up from Brighton & couldn't believe the black clouds and how awash with mud the parking was! We had completely missed the rain. My poor car, I'd only recently had it cleaned!

It was a great few days... Horrendous weather Saturday (not helped by the class starting at 930 just after the lightening bolt!) and watching the Derby in the Sun on Sunday was a fantastic experience. To top the week DD did well in her class, jumping clear on all four days! It really was a great experience.
