horse passport question

Does anyone know whether you can register an under 18 year old as the owner? Gd (nearly 15) would love to have her new horse in her name. I can't find anything at all about it on the net.
Anyone know?

I've found something here. Under question 6 it says There is no minimum age under which an owner cannot apply for a horse passport.
Is it me or is the wording a bit clumsy? Never mind, from that it seems she can have the passport in her name!

I've also noticed that you can ask for the passport back to keep after your horse dies and you send it in to be cancelled. Wish I'd known that .

Thanks Pixel. Sorry for your loss, I think I would want it to keep

When I bought my 1st horse, I just filled in the details and sent it off to the PIO. I think it's that simple!

I think you need to be over 16 to apply as the owner. Something to do with welfare laws and whether a child can be the legal owner of an animal.

I don't know too much about horse passports but to say that most vets won't consider putting you on the registration unless you're 18+. This is certainly the case for where I am.

Well its back, proper dob on form, and no issues. She is so chuffed. And horse is beyond our best hopes, absolute poppet, with a nice soft outline and a huge jump.
