Good stables for hacking in Surrey

I wonder if anyone could recommend a good stables in Surrey for hacking, not too far from Guildford. DS (age 8) and DD (age 6) both go for lessons once a fortnight in a riding school, but I'd really like them to do hacking as well (current stables doesn't seem to do much of this), preferably with DD on a lead rope and DS independent - and me tagging along at the back! I miss the wonderful hacking I did as a child in the Scottish Borders and know that there is a lot of fun to be had outside of the riding school.

I kept a horse in Bookham and can honestly say that the area around there was the best hacking I have ever experienced anywhere but not sure if there are any riding stables as such, Dorking area would also access much of it. Also good hacking around Farnham in the Bourne woods. I'd recommend looking up the stables that offer hacking where you want it and then looking at where they are on an OS map which should give you an idea of the hacking in the area and then see what you think of them on a visit. My horse was lethal on the road and therefore finding a livery yard we could hack for miles from was a challenge but the leg work of doing the above with the map proved very worth it!

Thanks JRs - Bookham is not so far from us, so I'll take a look at stables in that area. Smile

Great hacking near where my horse is kept. My yard is just livery and does not do lessons, think the nearest yard that does lessons is Wildwoods. Never been though.
