Getting a new passport?

Two weeks ago i acquired an 8 month old filly. The lady she came from said she is passported and chipped and has said she is still waiting for the passport to come through but im not 100% sure she was telling the truth. (she didn't seem very trustworthy and the filly did not look very well looked after) I have someone coming on the weekend to scan her to see if she is chipped so i can find out if she is passported but my question is how easy is it to get a new passport if she already has one? and where do i stand in registering the change of ownership etc?
Has anyone been is this situation before?

I got dhorse without a passport (the owner was very ill in hospital so I didn't push it, we'd had him weeks before we even got a chance to pay her!). I just got someone up to do his passport with my name on. It was all very straightforward, no awkward questions asked at all which was worrying when you think about it but also a relief! I did have a receipt to show I'd bought him but no one asked for proof of ownership or anything.

Thanks!:) who did you contact to come and do his passport? She just has a normal pet ID passport so do i contact them? The only proof of ownership i have is text messages from her and i have two eye witnesses. Im probably over worrying about things but want to get it sorted so i dont have any issues

Mine's a Pet-ID one as well. Someone gave me a phone number for a person who did them locally and she came along and filled out the forms for a fee. To be honest it's all a bit hazy now! I seem to remember doing it myself when the passports first came out and I had to get one for my old pony (I was a bit miffed, he was 25 and unlikely to be travelling anywhere). I was going to get one from the British Spotted Pony Society but I'd never got him registered (although the lady on the phone guessed his age the minute I mentioned the name of his sire which pleased me greatly Smile) and it didn't seem worth bothering at his age, so I ended up getting a form from the Pleasure Horse Society and doing it with them.

I've just looked and you can still get an application pack from them here if that is any help, but of course if you already know what passport company she is supposed to be already with then probably easiest to contact them first.
