passport/ registered name help

i have just got my first horse. She does not have a passport. I think i know her registered name, but dont know how to go about finding her breeding.

I need to get her a passport, but how do i chose a company (?) to do it through?

all of this passport business is new to me so forgive me for not having a clue!

Are you in the UK? Only it's just a legal requirement for all horses, ponies and donkeys to have one before they are 6 months old and you are only meant to buy a horse who has one. This is also to prevent stolen animals being sold. You can also get a hefty fine for having a horse/transporting one without a passport. There are a number of agencies who provide passports. I would google it and select one ASAP. Good luck!

Is your horse a specific breed - this will point you in the direction of which agency to use...

As Incapinka says it is a legal requirement to have one when you travel but it looks as if you're on the case which is fine.

She was transported to me without one. I know she needs one, which is why i am trying to sort it out, but is a bit confusing to a first time owner, so hoping you guys can help!

is there a way to find out if she is registered? apparently she used to hold a passport but it seems to have gotten lost. i do not know who she was passported with before though!

my traditional Shetland is registered with the Donkey Breed Society!

You need to get her scanned to see if she is chipped. Her details may well be listed with the chip company.
