Advice on Turnout Rugs please

What type/ brand of turnout rug would be best suited to a 13.2 thug of a pony ? Smile

He gets into all sorts of trouble, gets rid of his rug, then gets cold !!
We've got him on part loan so don't want to spend a fortune but at the same time want him to be warm & dry.
His rug last year had so many holes & rips in it was ridiculous. He wore a neck cover too.

Thanks for any advice given - we're a bit new to all this. He's 13.2 & we measured him to be about 64" so would a 5ft 3" be best ?

My 13.2 is in a 5 6 rug as a rule although they vary. His fly rug is a 5 3 as I think they work better a bit tighter. I buy all my rugs second hand. Try ebay for heavy weight turnouts as people aren't thinking that far ahead!

Rubbing and ripping rugs is annoying. Does he have sweet itch? We had to electrify the whole paddock as there was barbed wire on the stock proof fence and our old pony rub bed on everything he could.

Mine has a raincoat in very wet weather but he goes rugless for a good part of the day at the moment.

Thanks ! Nope, he doesn't have sweet itch.
He'll be clipped in the winter. He's such a boy getting into all sorts of mischief !

I'll have a look on ebay altho there are some good sale deals on at the moment.
