Ds(6) is doing a fun show with his pony (grey welsh a) any one got any ideas of what to dress up as? I thought about a pirate outfit for ds and dressing the pony as the boat made out of cardboard but i cant think about how to attach it to her.
Any ideas would be great.

Could you do a boat from fabric that could go on pony kind of like a rug would?

Attach the cardboard to her summer sheet (or her New Zealand if you need something more sturdy).

I once won 2nd prize for going as Top of the Pops. I wore flares and horse had rug with vinyl records tied on. It should have been my friend's sister's outfit but she refused to wear the flares. It was 1983 and there were only 2 of us that enteredGrin .

I've done a dragon before and it was easy - one red fleece rug and a red lycra hood, then I cut spikes out of a fleece blanket and pinned to the hood, then behind the saddle and tied on with ribbon to his tail. I t ried to do wings, but there was nowhere good to put them.

DS insisted I dress as a princess to lead them though Blush

Well a Dragon it is as DH has thrown all the cardboard away that I had kept Angry. We have got an old red sheet and I'm going to try and attach it to her hood as well the spikes and a tail. I will then dress DS as a knight.

Most fancy dress competitions are stuffed with Knights, pirates and princesses. Go for something totally unique. I once saw a pony wearing a cardboard fire engine, complete with blue light on its head piece and cardboard hub caps on its knees and a fireman rider.
The people who used to loan our Shetland were excellent. The pony wore a mob cap, wire spectacles, and old frilly nighty and a cardboard wolfs muzzle, complete with fangs. The rider wore a red cape and a basket.
The shettie also wore horns and a cow bell and the rider was a milk maid with a yoke and two buckets.
There has been a beach pony, sporting a rubber ring round its neck, armbands on its legs, huge sunglasses and a straw hat.
A white welsh pony with its mane and tail purple sprayed as the national lottery horse.
A black Shetland covered with yellow tape, with wings and its tail turned into a bee stinger.
Think outside the box a bit.

Golfer pony. Green fake fur cover, flag on black spot on rump sticking up. Rider in full bright golfing gear, visor over hat, carrying golf clubs. Tees and balls glued onto green rug in places using no nails.

We did Shrek and donkey once ( i dont think the pony was too insulted!)
And if you get a green hat cover you can stick shrekky ears on it and donkey just needed card ears. It was 2 kids so one went as puss in boots too.

we did Bride and Groom and Horse and Hound last time

DD1 was a groom in the horsey sense, pony was a bride

DD2 was a dog complete with ears on her hat and face paint

Humpty Dumpty sitting on the wall. Roger Waters of Pink Floyd used to judge the fancy dress at our local show when I was a kid so I did the wall like the Pink Floyd Wall album sleeve...
