Fancy Dress help needed! Turning pony into The Gruffalo!!!

Have decided to have a day out at a local pony fun day, have 3 DDs and they will all be able to have a go at something. The fancy dress class is first with a story book theme. 4yr old DD has a super cute mouse costume from a previous school play so thought I would dress chestnut pony up as The Gruffalo!

Any ideas on attaching purple prickles, turned-out toes, poisonous wart, etc.?

Hi I have a few suggestions ,for the Gruffalo's spines on his back use what you have already ....the ponys mane, you can get non harmful and not perminate sprays for hair (purple) section it with plating bands and use a hair product that will make it stiff ,,,,it will wash out the poisonous wart could be a purple sponge attached to noseband ruff it up a little so it dosnt look to neat!!! horns fangs and the three goofy teeth could also be attached to bridle ,and claws could be attached to bandages on legs ,hope that helps a little and please do post piccys please xx

Thanks disliketrolls! Defo good ideas, especially the sponge for poisonous wart! Not sure if I can summon up the gumption to do it, show is on 4th May so I have plenty of time to plan ahead. Will be our first fancy dress, there is one at the end of the summer with a 'food' theme which sounds even harder(and stranger!).
