The problem with this, is that even if your horse is "behaving safely", you can still fall off. For example your horse could slip or trip or you could simply loose balance. It is not just bad behaviour that causes falls.

I've also heard a story about someone who wasn't wearing a helmet and knocked themself out when they hit their head on a tree branch out hacking.

I would never get on a horse without a helmet.

Idiots! Just reinforces my opinion that parelli are only in it for the money.
Fwiw two of my worst injuries have been total accidents, once I survived old horse bucking and squealing all round the field, only to fall off laughing at him after he came to a halt at the gate. I broke my wrist quite badly. The other time I was launched into the air at gallop after he stumbled, landed on my head (with top spec jockey skull) and was concussed for 2 weeks. If I hadn't been wearing the hat I wouldn't be typing this now.

They are unbelievably stupid! .The dds are not allowed anywhere near their ponies without hats and bps.Just after we bought dpony,we were grooming her and DD2 inadvertantly knocked over an empty water container.Dpony jumped in surprise and her hoof just caught DD1's hat.As it was she was only shocked,if she hadn't been wearing a hat,we'd have spent the afternoon in A&E.

I saw this ages ago on the Fugly blog. Luckily most people think they are total idiots! I met a lady who was taking a Parelli course and she told me they are not even allowed to wear gloves when lungeing.

I've never fallen off dhorse, but I was jolly glad to be wearing a hat when he fell over! He didn't even trip as far as I know and we were walking. One second I was on him and the next I was under him. No amount of training is going to stop things like that happening.

No way would I ride without a hat!

Came off a few months ago (was wearing silly skinny jeans, cheeky buck sent me flying) didn't think id hit my head untill I bought a new hat few weeks later, they sent my old one off... huuuge impression in it on one side not visable from outside!

One word. TWATS!
I fell off a walking pony who turned left when I wanted to go right. Broke my arm so bad I had six months off work! A horse doesn't have to be dangerous or unsafe for you to fall off.
