Frankel fee announced

So Frankel gets to cover mares for 125,000 pounds a pop next year.

His new stud mates Dansili and Oasis Dream go up to 80,000 whilst other newbie Bated Breath is a mere 8,000 pounds.

If I could afford 125,000 and had a quality mare I still think he could be value!

He's still an unproven sire though isn't he? I guess if he sires winning foals his stud fee will go up and up so worth a punt at a mere 125k Grin. They will be very picky on which mares he covers won't they?

Butkin · 15/11/2012 12:57

He'll get two crops on the ground and through the sale ring before his 2yos have to prove themselves. I'd have thought they will be very commercial - and potentially very profitable - as hardly any will come on the market as most will be owned by owner/breeders including Prince Khalid himself.

Yes they will be "picky" but at 125,000 it is pretty much self governing because anybody with enough money and good fortune to get a nomination wouldn't spend it unless they had the right mare.

Gosh I thought it would be so much more. Sadler's Wells was 250,000.

Frankelstein · 28/11/2012 22:15

Sadler's Wells only hit those heights when he was an established, proven sire. His son (Frankel's sire) Galileo is rumoured to be ?300,000, though he is advertised simply as "Private".

I'm going to see Frankel on Friday Grin

Frankelstein · 30/11/2012 18:42

Been to see him this afternoon [sigh]

He looks amazing, as do all of the other Boys, and so chilled out. The stallion manager said he's settled in very quickly and they are very pleased with him.
