I've got a wintec 500 with Cair and I've been very pleased with it but unfortunately dhorse has now matured and it no longer fits, so I'm on the lookout for a Wintec Wide (the one with the purple gullets and 4 girth straps). I'm a bit dubious about buying one from a private online ad, especially if there isn't a photo but I've seen one on Preloved that is about an hour's drive from me so I could go and check the condition of it before handing over any money. Only prob is it is flock, not Cair. Would it make much difference do you think? Dhorse seems very happy with the cair. Does anyone know the advantages/disadvantages of both? Thanks.
(Oh and just in case anyone has one for sale I want 17" brown Wink).

i might be wrong but i thought you could change the gullets on the wintec i know you could with my old one. Have a look and see.

You should be able to just buy a wide gullet. That's the joy of the 500, adjustable system and much cheaper!!

No sorry I obviously didn't make myself very clear (it was late [hwink]). I've already worked my way through the gullets on my current Wintec as dhorse has grown and it is now on the widest (white) one available. The Wintec Wide goes up a further three sizes but the gullets are not interchangeable between the two saddles. If I put a gullet from the Wintec Wide into my regular Wintec it could damage the tree as it isn't designed to take it, so there's no choice but to get a new saddle. I love my Wintec, it's very comfy so ideally I just want to get the wider version!

Never mind, I've just bought one with Cair off of Ebay. Now all I've got to do is sell two other saddles to hopefully offset the cost. [hhmm]
