Badminton Horse Trials - cancelled

It's just been announced that this year's Badminton has been cancelled due to waterlogged ground and more rain forecast this week.

So sorry for all the riders, owners, exhibitors, organisers and of course the thousands of visitors who go each year.

I'm gutted. I had a season ticket for the whole event that Dh had bought me for my birthday. He'd even arranged to be around to do the school run for me so that I could go on Thursday and Friday.

I can't ever remember Badminton being cancelled because of the weather. What a shame.

Such a shame but a sensible decision

It has rained for about ten days non stop.

Noooooooooooooo.

I'm so disappointed but it is for the best. I was there in the 90's when they ran it in knee deep mud. It was awful watching the horses struggling through the mud and getting injured :(

I wouldn't like to be the person who made that decision!

I remember going as a child and wading through the mud around the trade stands, and then having my dad's car towed out because it was stuck in the mud! That was after having a picnic in the pouring rain. Happy days.

It gets pretty muddy there even with normal rain for this time of year. I can't imagine what it would be like if they ran it. I remember trying to push a buggy in calf deep mud!
