Im in North Essex, and am looking for a very cheap small yearling foal to keep Alfie company. He is driving his aunties round the bend, and needs a similar aged friend to play with! A filly would be preferable, (I wouldnt need to geld it) but a colt would do. If any of you lovely guys hear of anything, please let me know. (smile)

Have you tried any charities? They must have loads of youngsters eating their heads off.

Pixel · 02/04/2012 20:11

There's a cute little 8 month sec a going free on Project Horses but he's in Shropshire so probably too far but he is very very cute.

Oh, he is gorgeous! And he would be perfect! My little herd would do wonders for him! But he is 4 hours away! I hate being in Essex! It's miles from everywhere! Sad

Perhaps you should contact the owner anyway. If she thinks you are the right person she might agree to meet you halfway with him? (Unlikely I know as he sounds semi-wild but...)

MightyNice · 02/04/2012 22:56

it's not miles from ME

but I do not have a yearling

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 02/04/2012 23:09

Mighty, you are 20 minutes from me, Shropshire is nearly Wales! Grin
I have a Shetland for sale at the moment, if I can sell her quickly, I will make. Intact and see if I can find a carrier to bring him. I could hire a small lorry locally for the day, but that's £100 just for the hire.

Anyone want a LR Shetland? Wink

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 03/04/2012 00:00

Oh GOD! That poor pony! Shock The state of it! Ive been all over Dragon Driving, and I missed her. She looks quite big, but she really needs a good home! Im going to show my friend tomorrow. my yearling was recently weaned, and has never eaten anything but grass, even when the snow was down, but he looks nothing like that poor baby! How does someone have the gall to advertise something like that! Sad

I like william

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 03/04/2012 00:26

I know, It's a shame. I typed in essex on the website and thought i'd suggest her as she looks like she could do with a decent owner and a damned good meal.

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 03/04/2012 00:30

I'm desperate to go and bring some of these home for some TLC

Oh God! Ive changed my mind about pixels little welsh, I want Lady. She has such a sweet face! Shettie is on 6 or 7 websites, hopefully she will sell soon, and leave me with space for a bigger girl! I can just see her all plump and happy, with DD aboard in a few years!
Pixel, Unfortunately, the rescue centres would hate us, we dont get the vet out at every case of sickness, accident, disability or disease (we prefer to use common sense initially, before spending the cash) and we trim our own feet.
Although, we could pass as a rescue yard, every beast on the place was free/£1/gimpy/wonky/a meat wagon reject or just plain weird! Grin

LOVE tiny, am a bit poor though :( - didn't she go on loan somewhere?

Shock at the filly who is all pelvis and ribs, please get her!

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 03/04/2012 11:22

Yes she did go on loan, but it's a PITA generally, and I need the proceeds for the youngster, and to get Alfie gelded! Confused

SaggyOldClothCatPuss - Don't worry, Rescues wouldn't like me either, For much the same reason.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 03/04/2012 20:28

RIGHT! Shetland sold to the first to view today. Being collected tomorrow. Dare I go and look at that skinny little filly?

Dragon driving is an awful website.

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 03/04/2012 20:44

I know. I hate the ridden and driven at 2yo thing, and some of those ponies are a state. That little mare has the sweetest face, and she is so thin. Dd wants to buy her with her own money. The way I look at it, at least it gives them a chance of getting non gypsy homes, where they might be pampered.

SparkyMcSparrowLaidMiniEggs · 03/04/2012 20:44

Oh Saggy get her!
I saw this thread the other day and I want her but she's too far away and I have no money

She looks like such a sweetheart!

GET HER!!!!!! :)

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 03/04/2012 20:49

I haven't even phoned yet, she might be sold. I spoke to my friend, and her view is, it's £165. Nothing. You could get a pony who turns out nicely, or a crock who ends up being shot, it's a gamble, but at that age, she probably can't have much wrong with her.
I'll ring tomorrow. And then work out how to get her home! I have a tow bar, but no tow ball! I'll rack my brains for a towing friend!

OP posts:
TheQueenOfDiamonds · 04/04/2012 00:18

I would risk it at that age, If the only issue is weight. At the very least you've got what you need, And if she turns out nicely you've got a bargain of a pony.

I only paid £340 including delivery for my colt.. And he's turning out fabulously (I'm in touch with his new owner).
