Hoping for some advice. Has anyone had anything to do with this place? It looks OK. But I wondered if anyone had direct experience.

For DD (she'll be 13) with (probably) a friend.

Thanks

Not too keen on the picture of the student being lunged in canter on grass. Otherwise I have no knowlege of this place, sorry.

OrmIrian · 09/01/2012 09:14

Is that wrong then?

DD can canter already so I guess that wouldn't be an issue for her.

Or does anyone have any recommendations. Preferably in the south west. Thanks

Well, grass can be slippy and generally I would only ever lunge a horse and rider at trot. There is nothing to be gained by cantering on the lunge (you're riding with no stirrups and no reins so need to work on an independant seat - difficult in trot, easy in canter).

Talland does residential courses I think but probably too far from you: talland.net/h/Home

Talland was the one that sprung to my mind too.

OrmIrian · 09/01/2012 19:58

No, not too far at all but they don't seem to cater for teenagers - just adults.

Wellington is quite good fun for holidays. Or try www.pinelodgeexmoor.co.uk/ friend works there and is always saying how much she enjoys the job so I figure the holidays must be good too.

OrmIrian · 10/01/2012 12:41

Thanks ariela. Pinelodge looks great and isn't far from us but it doesn't look as if they take unaccompanied minors. Where/what is Wellington?

Wellington is near Reading.

OrmIrian · 10/01/2012 16:23

This one?

Thanks, that looks good too.

I am a bit nervous of sending DD somewhere we've never heard of, all on her lonesome without recommendations.
