outgrown riding hats

Does anyone know of anyone who would be interested in taking outgrown riding hats? I am rapidly getting a collection of these as dd will insist on growing out of them and there is nothing wrong with them. I understand that there are health and safety implications but it seems such a shame that these are going to waste...any ideas?

I generally pass them onto friends with kids who ride. Can't sell them, riding schools can't use them due to insurance.

does anyone else remeber the days when riding school hats were battered old things with elastic as the chin strap ? they usually hit the ground before you did

Throw them out! Can you henestly say they have NEVER been dropped? Not worth the risk. I make my kids change them every year and immediately after a fall if I spot a spec of arena surface on them. Hats are designed to degrade and yours are probably not up to the job anymore.

I do bin my hats but I must admit I've passed a couple of ds's to friends when he's outgrown them very quickly. I can actually guarantee they've never been dropped! Because of his SN ds always rides on the lead rein and he's never fallen off. Also as far as he is concerned the hat is for riding (ASD, takes things quite literally Xmas Smile) so it goes on his head when he gets on the mounting block and comes off as soon as he's ridden, then it goes in its bag in the car to go home where it hangs safely in the cupboard under the stairs. He doesn't get to carry them about so they have very little chance to get damaged, although I agree if they were old, or had been left for a long time in a hot car or something like that I would err on the side of caution.

Sorry frumpet - I thought this thead had had its day so hadn't checked it over the weekend - the latest hat is a pro plus jockey helmet size 6 7/8ths or 56-57cms - if it would be any good to you let me know!

Could anyone qualify/explain the 'hats are designed to degrade' comment? How/why/when? That seems very odd to me!

Op, I don't but plenty of people buy and sell them on eBay and preloved.
