Share fallen through - totally gutted!

Share agreement has fallen though unfortunately (see previous post - am i too big?)
The owner didn't mention when we agreed to everything, that she dictates the times i can ride, and be at the yard, she keeps all tack - head collars etc in her car. I'm only allowed to go to the yard early evenings to ride with a group of people which is arranged by her (like you would a riding school) which is unfortunatly not what i was looking for.
Really gutted and heart broken. But i'm not paying just to "go out on a hack with some of the girls" three times a week, i'd like to do some schooling and decide the hours i ride on my allotted days.
She also neglected to tell me, she has two other people that she charges weekly to "go on a ride" with this horse.
I've only ever had one share before, and was totally different to this, have a missed something here????

Think that after you've recovered from the disappointment you'll realise you've had a lucky escape.

Hmm yes i guess so. I think maybe i'll have a break from looking until Sept/Oct/Nov time, there might be more about then.

Sounds more like she's just hiring her poor horse out.

Sad as it is I'd suggest you're well out of this situation.

I've let a lady in our village share my horse for years. She doesn't pay anything but can exercise him whenever she likes except at weekends.

I'm happy because it gets him fit (and she checks on him when we are away)and she's happy as it doesn't cost her anything. Perfect arrangement all round.

Poor you and poor horse. It all sounded so promising but I agree you are well out of that situation. Hope you find something better, are you advertising in tack shops and so on?

I have a sharer for each of mine, but it's sort of share one get one free as they can ride either of them if it's convenient. They just let me know by text whether they are riding that day and at what sort of time, more so I wouldn't feed horses ten minutes before a sharer wanted to ride which I kept doing at first, or so I know they have been fed and checked over in case am having Day Off. My sharers just meet half the costs of their horse but hopefully have all the fun of ownership without too much of the responsibility. I cannot imagine having more than one sharer per horse/pony, it must be a nightmare to organise.

The right horse will come along when you need it. I'm really impatient, but try and keep the whole fate thing going, and it seems to work. I've applied it to horses, riders, paddocks, cash for the next consignment of hay... Fate always seems to work! Get your requirements out amongst the local horse community, and keep an eye out. It'll happen.

What are you looking for and where etc? What's your experience/ideal arrangement/ type of horse etc?

Word of mouth is often the best way.

That is definitely a rubbish share agreement. I am looking for a sharer, but I want them to feel that on their days they can do what they like within sensible reason! Let me know if you are anywhere near Exeter!!!

they are out there - I share, and I pick my days am or pm, however many I want, ride when I like school or hack and generally treat her as my own

I'm not anywhere near Exeter - I'm on the Northants/Beds border - looking for ideally 3 days a week, but am pretty flexible, preferably day times, Have been riding 20 odd years, and owned horses for about 15 of those years. Confident, and competent. Looking for something 16Hh+, Don't mind too much about anything else, but nothing that's stupidly nutty, I don't mind (and actually quite enjoy) green horses.
Would love to do a little competing if i got the chance, a little XC & SJ but again, no great shakes either way.

omg Amieesmum i'm south northants and potentially have horse to share - is this too far away from you to travel?
