Riding School Birthday Parties - Good idea or not?

DD (7) is having a birthday party next week where she rides and has invited schoolfriends who have never ridden before but keen to try.

I am now wondering if it is a good idea as she has only just learnt to canter by herself but is fearless and had chosen a fast pony that she has only ridden once (she usually rides the slowest).

I am worried that
a) She will show off, not be able to stop the pony and end up falling off in front of her friends and they will never let her forget it.
b) One or more of the friends don't like it once they are on the pony and refuse to carry on.
c) One of the friends will hurt themselves and they will be the child whose parents have not stayed.

All of her friends will be on the leadrein and the instructor is really good so I have no worries in that respect but now the party is near I have started worrying. It is very expensive but DD wanted it more than anything, am I mad?

It will be fine! The instructor will have done it times before (and so will the ponies) The instructor won't let her show off, and if she does and falls off in front of her friends that will be a priceless lesson in itself! Relax and enjoy yourself. And come back and tell us how it went.
