Pulled shoulder

Hi. My mare is currently off work/yarded after a suspected pulled shoulder. She has been on 10 days of 'bute and I now have to give her 3 or 4 days off the 'bute then see how she is. She does seem better, but I am concerned about how to bring her back into work and whether it could happen again...anyone else had this? She went hopping lame for no apparent reason, was dragging the foot for a couple of days but isn't now. Vet wasn't sure what it was but eliminated most other causes...thanks

I would treat it similar to most other lamenesses.(or how u would treat your own pulled ankle for example) Take it slow (if the horse will allow it!) Walk for a couple of days then if all ok introduce a little trot etc, keep things gradual. I also would not turn out until you are cantering as the field would be a perfect place for this kind of injury to happen again if its not completely healed!
