Made a take-home pay calculator for my wife, thought I'd share

Hello!

My wife's a TA and with all the pay rise talk going round she wanted to know what it actually means for her, so I knocked this together teachertakehomepay.co.uk

You put in role/level and area and it shows what you take home after tax, NI and pension, before and after the 3.5%.

It's free and there's no sign up. I'm not a teacher so there's every chance I've got something wrong! If a number looks off let me know and I'll sort it.

Happy to add things too if there's something that would be useful.

Thank you OP that’s brilliant (and also works for any job if your pay scales align)!

Two observations though:
Why not call if Schoolstafftakehomepay - it can be used for all school staff apart from senior ones maybe? Until recently I was a school librarian, everyone is paid using the same pay scales as TAs. Perhaps you didn’t know that though.

i imagine some will be paying AVCs into their pension pot, could they be added?

But thanks for posting!

I beg your pardon, have now seen that you can input any salary, so it can be used for literally anyone in school or indeed outside it!

I like the layout in this! Just a couple of things that come up slightly out for me- I am part time but have a TLR, my TLR isn't pro-rata but I think your calc will do that as part of the total?
It's also got me paying more into my pension than I do (and that's on last year's salary), I wonder if you've got the bands set right?
Nice bit of work for straightforward calculations, though!

Ha no need to apologise, I honestly didn't know that so thank you!

My wife's a TA which is why I started with teachers and TAs. I don't really have any expertise, I just go off the government figures! I've changed the TA bit so it says it's for all school support staff now, librarians included. I'm going to keep the name for now as Google has only just started finding it too, but good shout :)

I've added a box for extra pension payments under More options and it takes them off before tax like it would on your payslip!
